Designer toys – that is the low-cost, highbrow alternative to hanging dusty works of art on your wall. Remember The Transformers? How about the vaguely homosexual He-Man toys of the 80′s? There were countless versions of toys based on film- and TV shows that made its way into the homes, closets and playgrounds of children all over the globe. You had them. Admit it, you had them all! Your sticky fingers clawed off the wrapping the moment they touched your chubby paws. Remember that Darth Vader toy you smashed to pieces during a re-enactment of Return of the Jedi with your brother? That same toy could have netted you a sweet fortune on eBay. If you had kept it in the original wrapping, of course.
Designer vinyl toys are the ‘in’ thing. They are small, beautifully shaped and constructed to reflect the ideals and visual interpretation of each artist’s unique style. This began in the USA, but the UK toys industry, Asia and Australia all quickly latched onto this amazing phenomenon.
